There are a lot of exciting things going on the Smoky Mountains these days. From Wild West events to tournament fishing, there’s something for everyone here in East Tennessee. Coming soon is the most exciting annual outdoor spring event in Gatlinburg, the Smoky Mountain Trout Tournament.

Tourists and locals are challenged to hook trout and at the largest fishing tournament in the Smokies.

Beginning Saturday April 5th at sunrise, the tournament will run until 4:00pm. Sunday, the tournament picks back up at sunrise and concludes at 2:00pm when the winners will be chosen. With over 10,000 trout stocked in more than 20 miles of streams, this two day event is sure to be fun and exciting for fishermen of all ages.

There are four total divisions, branching from a local and tourist division. In each of those there is an adult and youth category. With those four divisions, there will be twelve winners total. Over $10,000 in cash and prizes will be given away at the end of the tournament.

Rules and Regulations

Participants must have a Tennessee fishing license and a Gatlinburg daily permit. All those entering must be at the weigh-in to receive prizes.

No fishing before of after the tournament’s official hours to allow for honest, clean fun. Trout must be 7 inches minimum, and the lightest weight 7 inch fish wins just as much as the largest fish. Participants are allowed one handheld road and up to five total fish.
