Fireworks shooting from the Gatlinburg Space Needle
December 10, 2012

Ringing in the New Year should always be a memorable occasion. While attending a private party can be fun, sometimes a bit more celebration is called for. That’s why the Gatlinburg Space Needle offers a spectacular way to ring in the New Year.

This free event is the place to party with thousands of other revelers. The festivities are complete with a countdown clock, a ball drop and an unforgettable fireworks display. Arrive early to ensure being able to take everything in and to be in a good vantage point for watching the ball drop.

The party happens at the base of the Gatlinburg Space Needle at the intersection of Historic Nature Trail and Parkway. It's a celebration that’s been happening for more than 20 years, and thousands of enthusiastic partiers will gather long before the sun even goes down. That’s because there’s so much going on in the area. Surrounding businesses, including restaurants, shops and bars, will be open and offering special deals throughout the evening. Before midnight strikes, it’s possible to enjoy gourmet dining, shop for one of a kind keepsakes and enjoy a beverage in a plush lounge.

This is also the place to be for live musical entertainment. Guests are treated to performances from the Gatlinburg Convention Center balcony. Of course, no New Year’s celebration could be complete without party favors. Pick some up at the base of the Gatlinburg Space Needle. Local retailer Mr. Tablecloth creates new favors every year for the festivities.

While the crowd may spend hours enjoying live music, eating, shopping and generally enjoying themselves however they please, all eyes look upward as the midnight hour draws near. As the ball begins to descend, marking the end of the old year, the excitement steadily builds. Revelers share a quick kiss with loved ones just before the pyrotechnics begin. A dazzling fireworks display caps off the entertainment in fantastic style. The highly choreographed show is presented by Pyro-Shows, one of the most professional and well-known fireworks production companies in America. The display of light and color is the most memorable way to welcome in another year in style.

The New Year’s Ball Drop at the Space Needle has become the number one way to celebrate the waning of the old year in Gatlinburg. Locals love the celebration, but many people visit here around December 31 so that they can enjoy the festivities too. With an array of dining options available, stunning views to be had from the observation deck of the Space Needle and an enormous party happening on the streets, Gatlinburg offers an amazing way to ring out the old and ring in the new.
