Gatlinburg, TN is one of the most popular honeymoon destinations in the country! With its breathtaking natural beauty and variety of fun activities, it’s easy to see why millions of newlyweds choose to take their first vacation as a married couple in the Smoky Mountains. To help you make the most of your getaway, Parkside Cabin Rentals has put together a guide to five of the best Gatlinburg honeymoon activities.

1. Take a Scenic Drive

Gatlinburg is located at the doorstep of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the most visited national park in the United States! One of the very best way to enjoy the park’s beautiful scenery is to take a drive through the Smokies with your sweetheart. Here are a few of the area’s most romantic scenic drives:

  • Just minutes away from downtown Gatlinburg, the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail is a 5.5 mile one-way loop road featuring historic buildings, gorgeous mountain vistas, bubbling streams, a wet weather waterfall, and the trailheads for the Rainbow Falls and Grotto Falls hikes.

  • Cades Cove is a stunning valley that is famous for its wildlife viewing. As you make your way through Cades Cove’s 11 mile loop road, keep your eyes peeled for black bears, wild turkeys, and white-tailed deer. Visitors will also find a plethora of historic homesteads and incredible mountain views. For a very romantic experience, consider taking a carriage ride or horseback riding tour through the valley with Cades Cove Riding Stables.

2. Sample Local Wines (for Free)

Wine tasting is another one of the most popular Gatlinburg honeymoon activities. To sample a great selection of the area’s wines, we recommend taking the Rocky Top Wine Trail, a collection of five wineries in the Smoky Mountains that offer free tastings and tours. The wineries on the trail can be visited in any order you like and you can spread out the tastings over the course of your vacation. Be sure to get your official Rocky Top Wine Trail Passport stamped at each location, because guests get free gifts as they complete the trail! The following wineries comprise the Rocky Top Wine Trail:

  • Sugarland Cellars Winery

  • Mountain Valley Vineyards

  • Apple Barn Winery

  • Hillside Winery

  • Eagle Springs Winery
