Feb 02, 2013

Part of the Smoky Mountain vacation experience is discovering all of the wonderful shopping near Gatlinburg from arts and crafts, specialty shops, to outlet malls in the area. Visitors can stroll through the unique stores scattered along the Parkway, or spend an afternoon at one of the nearby outlet malls.

The Parkway is a one of a kind road that winds its way through Gatlinburg, as well as many other nearby towns. It is lined with restaurants, hotels, and of course a multitude of shopping options. The Village is a quaint Old World shopping center at stoplight number six. Here one can find food, toys, clothing, and collectibles. The Mountain Village Décor, The Silver Tree, The Candle Cottage, and Thomas Kinkade are just a sample of what one can expect.

A little further along the Parkway is Elk’s Plaza. Their Hillbilly Gift Shop has the typical souvenir items, while Angelic Whispers has affordably priced handcrafted jewelry. Get your picture taken at Somewhere in Time, and don’t forget to grab a snack at The Jerky Store.

Lineberger’s Dog Wood Plaza is the crowning jewel of the Gatlinburg Parkway. This is due to their observation tower, giving people a spectacular 360 degree view of the surrounding area. It is also where shoppers can stroll through the Mellow Mushroom Gift Shop and the Beef Jerky Outlet. Their Ole Smokey Distillery is a great place to pick up educational items and books about Gatlinburg. An added perk is the working still on display.

For the shoppers who love a good bargain, try one of the several outlet malls around Gatlinburg. At stoplight number four in Pigeon Forge, one can roam in and out of the many unique shops under the famous red roof. Here you will find two levels of everything from hand crafted wares to designer name brands. Other shops in Sevierville are an ideal spot to spend an afternoon. They have shops that sell accessories, food, footwear, apparel, housewares, and specialty merchandise of all styles, with many name brands for fashion, home goods, and electronics.

Of course you may need some necessities while in Gatlinburg as well. Ole Dad’s General Store has everything one needs while on vacation. This is the place to come for firewood and camping supplies, along with takeout food and groceries.

No matter what you’re in the market for, the Gatlinburg area has it all. Everything from crafts to the top name brands at bargain prices can be found among their rustic and unique shops.
