With winter approaching and the Smokies getting cooler, it’s about time to head towards Ober Gatlinburg for a fun day in the snow. While Ober is a great place to spend some time on the slopes, they also offer snow tubing that is fun and easy for the whole family. Now that the tubing hill is open, it’s time to buy your tickets! Here is everything you need to know about Ober Gatlinburg snow tubing:
For a 90 minute session on Ober’s tubing hill, ages 5 and up pay $30 for non-holiday weekdays and $35 for weekends and holiday periods. If you’re bringing your little ones with you, you’re in luck! Ages 3 and 4 are free with a paying adult.
Keep in mind, tickets for holiday periods and some weekends will sell-out well in advance, so make sure to purchase your tickets online as soon as possible for your desired session. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket office as well.
Ober Gatlinburg snow tubing runs from late November through late March and sessions will be held in sunshine, rain, sleet and snow. The tubing hill is a thrilling experience! At 350 feet long with a 50 foot drop, you’ll have a blast flying down this snowy mountain. The outdoor escalator, also known as the “Magic Carpet”, will take you back to the top of the hill after your turn! No climbing required! Kids who wish to ride alone must be at least 6 years old or 42”, every other child needs an adult to ride with them.
Before you arrive at Ober, remember that the mountain tends to get crowded on weekends and holidays, so plan to arrive early. If the mountain parking is full, you’ll have to take the Aerial Tramway from the Downtown Tram Mall. There may also be a wait time for the tram, so make sure you communicate your session time with an Ober employee so they can get you to the top of the mountain as fast as possible.

After you’ve finished your snow tubing session, go explore all of the other fun things to do at Ober Gatlinburg. Check out a few of their other snowsports like skiing, snowboarding and ice skating. If you didn’t bring your own gear for any of these activities, Ober has plenty of rentals. They even offer ski and snowboard lessons for those who are new to the slopes.
If you head inside, you’ll find an ice skating rink that is open year round. Feel free to do a few laps on the rink then head to the snack stand for a delicious cup of hot chocolate. Whatever you decide to do at Ober, we guarantee you’ll have a great time!
