The new disc golf course at Ober Gatlinburg features a mix of downhill throws, uphill challenges, and sidehill fairways, all set against panoramic views of the Great Smoky Mountains and the valley below! The course starts at the top of the mountain and follows the winter ski trails Yeti, Ober, and Grizzly, and part of the fun is taking the scenic lift ride to the beginning! If you are new to disc golf, it is a specialized outdoor layout where players throw aerodynamic flying discs at elevated metal chain baskets (the “holes”). 2. Participant Requirements
Another one of the top things to know about the new disc golf course at Ober Gatlinburg is the requirements necessary to participate! Anyone playing the course must be able to stand unassisted and navigate the steep, uneven terrain (no safety equipment is provided or required). In addition, participants must wear closed-toe shoes, and athletic or hiking shoes are recommended. The only other requirement is that participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who is at least 18 years old.
