When most people think of Ober Gatlinburg, they imagine the snowy winter. While this is a great season to visit the theme park due to its abundance of winter sports, Ober is a fun activity during any time of the year! They have a ton of activities for the whole family that you can explore no matter when you have your vacation planned! Here are 4 year-round attractions at Ober Gatlinburg you don’t want to miss:

1. Scenic Chairlift

However, the ride on the chairlift is much more than just a form of transportation, it is a whole attraction of its own! While the lift carries you up the mountain, you can soak up the gorgeous views of the Smoky Mountains. During the journey, you will experience a 779-foot gain in elevation. The chairlift also covers 3,019 feet in length, making it the longest lift of its kind in the United States! After your exciting day at the amusement park, you can enjoy the peaceful ride back to downtown Gatlinburg.

2. Indoor Ice Skating

Whether it’s snowing outside or a sweltering 90 degrees, you can enjoy a fun trip on the ice inside Ober Gatlinburg’s 75-foot indoor ice arena. The skating rink is located inside the enclosed mall area and is open 365 days a year. Another great thing about ice skating at Ober is that it is a fun activity for all ages and skill levels. If you are a beginner skater, the rink features a handrail around the perimeter which is helpful if you are just learning how to keep your balance. Before you know it, you will be flying around the skating rink like you never thought possible!

3. Wildlife Encounter

The highlight of your visit will be meeting the black bear family of Minnie, BJ, Holly, and Chief. Some of the other animals you can see in the habitat include river otters, bobcats, foxes, and dozens of bird species. In the Nocturnal House, you can check out some of the animals that roam through the night, including raccoons, skunks, flying squirrels, and snakes.

4. Ski Mountain Coaster

One of the most popular attractions at Ober Gatlinburg is the Ski Mountain Coaster. Departing from the Snow Tubing Park, the ride begins with a 1,000-foot climb to the top of the track. During this peaceful start, you can soak up all the gorgeous scenery of the mountains as you travel through the trees. Once at the top, you will begin your journey back down the hill where you can reach speeds of up to 25 miles per hour. The awesome thing about this thrill ride is that you are in control of your own speed, so you can choose to fly down at top speed or take a leisurely pace!
