Everyone’s favorite Christmas ballet is coming to Gatlinburg! The Great Smoky Mountain Dance Theatre will present the Nutcracker “Sweet” on November 29 and November 30. Performing at the W.L. Mills Auditorium at 7 pm, this classic show is right around the corner from our cabins in Gatlinburg. Read on to find out everything you need to know about the world’s most popular ballet!

What is the Nutcracker about?

The Nutcracker is based off E.T.A. Hoffmann's wonderful holiday story “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King”. On Christmas Eve, Clara Silberhaus receives a nutcracker from her godfather, who happens to be a magician. At the stroke of midnight, Clara’s nutcracker doll comes to life and takes her on an incredible adventure featuring giant mice, gingerbread soldiers and fairies. Your children will be mesmerized by the ballet's winter wonderland set and the character’s colorful costumes.

What are the famous songs from the Nutcracker?

The Nutcracker has some of the most recognizable Christmas songs in the world. Famous pieces include the Russian Dance Trepak, The Nutcracker March and the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. The minute you hear these irresistible tunes you won’t be able to keep from tapping your toes and humming along.

Where do I get tickets?

You can call 865-680-7369 to order tickets. Special reserved seating (“Sweet Seats”) cost $30 and come with a program book, candy and a cup of coffee or hot chocolate. General admission adult seats cost $20, senior citizen seats cost $15 and student seats cost $10.
