Bringing Pets to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Pets absolutely love visiting the Great Smoky Mountains National Park! As long as they are on a leash at all times, dogs are permitted in picnic areas and along all roads. If you want to go for a hike with your pooch, we suggest taking the Gatlinburg Trail. The only pet friendly trail on the Tennessee side of the national park, this short hike begins at the Sugarlands Visitor Center and lasts 1.9 miles. Along the way, you’ll see stunning views of the Little Pigeon River and the remnants of historical buildings.
