The Reagan family, one of Gatlinburgs most historic families, began building cabins around 1925. At the time, Otha Reagan worked stripping tanning bark in the Sugarlands area of what is now the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and his wife, Emma, was a weaver at Arrowmont. In 1923, Otha and Emma had saved enough money $500 to be exact to purchase five acres of land on the Roaring Fork Creek where Brookside Resort is today. Just a few years later they began building small cabins and chicken coops on the property to rent to men who were in the area building the road from Newfound Gap to Clingman Dome. These cabins were built with timbers from the Roaring Fork School House and Church, and some were built from log homes moved straight out of the National Park. Many of the Reagan familys ancestors were even born in these cabins!

In 1971, Gatlinburg Southern Building Code required the remodel of nearly all the buildings in the area to a Bavarian type of exterior, so the Reagan cabins were updated to conform. Not too long after that in 1980, all of the original cabins and chicken houses were moved to their present location in picturesque Emerts Cove by a local river hangout called the Flint Rock Swimming Hole. To make a few larger cabins to accommodate larger families, two of the original cabins were placed on each side of a concrete slab to form a bedroom and a bathroom, and the middle was built to form a living area. Dont worry, though, the cabins havent lost any of their history rumor has it that old chicken feed bags from the cabins earliest years have been found in their attics! Todays owners, Beville and Lisa Reagan, are proud to bring a little piece of their familys Gatlinburg history to your Gatlinburg vacation!

River Run is a three bedroom cottage on the beautiful Little Pigeon River that features a full-size bed in each bedroom. The Cottage has a full kitchen, a cozy living area with a flat screen television, and both indoor and outdoor dining areas. River Run is within walking distance of the Greenbrier entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and it can be rented with and of the other Brookside Resort cabins to accommodate large gatherings.

It was great, check in and out was easy. The only issues were that there were spider webs inside different parts of the house and the front steps need repair.

Parkside, as always, provides the best cabin rental experience. Upon arrival, one of my smoke alarms was beeping due to a low battery. I called the office and within the hour, someone was there to address this problem. Cabin was well stocked and clean. I have already made reservations to return next year!

The comprehensive description and photos of the available cabins greatly enhanced thje selection process, the reservation process was simple and straight-forward, and an exceptional level of customer support was provided. Check-in and check-out were a breeze, and staff members were knowledgeable about area activities and attractions.

Our cabin was wonderful, peaceful and just what we wanted. I would request more forks be added to the cabin as there were only 3 and we had to wash them constantly.

Check-in super easy and staff was friendly. Loved the hot spot we were offered for internet access on the rainy days. Cabin was ok. Well-stocked kitchen, but lacking in any recent updating. Location made up for it though! Beautiful swimming hole on the river!

Everything was great. Only complaints I have is that we needed more towels and we put them on the porch before 11 am like the directions on the door told us to and we never got any and there is something wrong with the bathtub floor so you may want to check it out. It is very peaceful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Check in was wonderful. The front desk employees were courteous and helpful. The maintenance man was quick to replace a light bulb on our front porch and brought clean linens whenever we asked. We have stayed at Brookside Cabins for many years and have always had a great stay. A note for you: the kitchen needs to be restocked; had no servicing/mixing bowls, needs new baking sheets, the can opener was difficult to use and the drawers need some repair.
