The Reagan family, one of Gatlinburgs most historic families, began building cabins around 1925. At the time, Otha Reagan worked stripping tanning bark in the Sugarlands area of what is now the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and his wife, Emma, was a weaver at Arrowmont. In 1923, Otha and Emma had saved enough money $500 to be exact to purchase five acres of land on the Roaring Fork Creek where Brookside Resort is today. Just a few years later they began building small cabins and chicken coops on the property to rent to men who were in the area building the road from Newfound Gap to Clingmans Dome. These cabins were built with timbers from the Roaring Fork School House and Church, and some were built from log homes moved straight out of the National Park. Many of the Reagan familys ancestors were even born in these cabins!

In 1971, Gatlinburg Southern Building Code required the remodel of nearly all the buildings in the area to a Bavarian type of exterior, so the Reagan cabins were updated to conform. Not too long after that in 1980, all of the original cabins and chicken houses were moved to their present location in picturesque Emerts Cove by a local river hangout called the Flint Rock Swimming Hole. To make a few larger cabins to accommodate larger families, two of the original cabins were placed on each side of a concrete slab to form a bedroom and a bathroom, and the middle was built to form a living area. Don't worry, though, the cabins havent lost any of their history. rumor has it that old chicken feed bags from the cabins earliest years have been found in their attics! Todays owners, Beville and Lisa Reagan, are proud to bring a little piece of their familys Gatlinburg history to your Gatlinburg vacation!

Emma's Cottage, named after Emma Reagan, features two bedrooms, each with a king-size bed. The Cottage also displays a full kitchen equipped with all your cooking necessities, and a comfortable living room with a futon and a flat screen television. The Cottage has two bathrooms as well as both front and back porches. This cabin can be reserved as part of a group of any of the other Brookside Resort Cabins to accommodate family reunions, corporate retreats, weddings, and other large gatherings. All guests of Brookside Resort Cabins do have access to a complimentary laundry facility.

**Note: this cabin does have an eight inch step up to its bedrooms.**

Our stay was great, minus the rain & cold temps. We always try and book with parkside when we travel to Gatlinburg. We are never disappointed when we book. Thank you.

The stay with you was fine. The only thing that keeps you from 5 stars is the following. You need to supply some information on the heating system. The electric heaters did not work in 1 bedroom. Also had no idea the air conditioning worked like a heat pump, both air and heat. If it was not for them the place would not have warned up.

The staff was very accommodating and helpful. We weren't sure what to expect since we've never stayed with Park Side before but overall it was nice. The cabin we stayed at didn't have any great views of mountains, the internet was weak to non-existent (needed to complete homework) and the grill was missing but within hours after arriving they provided us with a new grill and a hot-spot. The cabin itself was clean and all the linens and kitchenware with were more than sufficient. The location was great, just minutes from Gatlinburg and it still felt quite and secluded. There is a lovely creek running along side the cabins and the water was pristine. My sons were even able to play Pokemon Go there.

Everything was very clean and the accommodations were great. I over-packed, you had everything that we would have needed and next time we come I will trust you to have what I need. Annie the house keeper stopped by every day and gave us clean towels. The showers were great with good water pressure. Next time I will bring my fishing rod and fish behind the cabins. The only con that I had was that the cabin was very humid inside, but we will be back next year.
