6 Things to Do in Your Three Bedroom Gatlinburg Cabin on a Snowy Day

Jan 27, 2015

While the chances of being snowed in at your cabin are slim, the Great Smoky Mountains have their fair share of snowy days during the winter months. When the flakes are falling outside, it can be fun to stay indoors and spend some quality time with the people you love. Parkside Cabin Rentals has put together a convenient “snow day guide”, with six great ideas for having fun in one of our three bedroom Gatlinburg cabins:

1. Warm Up in the Jacuzzi Tub or by the Fireplace

When the weather outside is wintry, there is nothing like warming up in your cabin’s bubbly Jacuzzi tub. Some of our three bedroom cabins even have multiple Jacuzzis, so everyone can enjoy a relaxing soak after taking a walk in the snow. After your dip in the tub, you can dry off in front of your very own wood burning fireplace. With a mug of hot chocolate in your hand, and your family by your side, you will have the perfect ambience for an evening of conversation and fun as the snow comes down.

2. Watch Your Favorite Movies

Pile on to the couch for a family movie night in your cabin! You can plan a marathon of films set in the winter, or you can pretend it’s the summer with movies about tropical locations. Each cabin has slightly different amenities, so be sure to book a vacation rental with a big screen television, DVD player, and cable. Our larger cabins typically have several TVs, so if your family members have different tastes you can have multiple movies going on at the same time.

3. Prepare a Big Mealpeople with socks near the fire

Our three bedroom Gatlinburg cabins comes with fully equipped kitchens, so you can easily whip up a tasty meal. It’s a good idea to keep your kitchen stocked with ingredients, so you can cook if the snow is coming down hard, or you just don’t feel like venturing out to dine. Preparing lunch or dinner in your cabin is a great opportunity to spend time together, and maybe even teach the kids a thing or two about cooking.

4. Have a Pool Tournament

If there are pool players in your family or group, be sure to rent one of our cabins with a billiards table. A pool tournament is a great way to pass the hours on a snowy day. Depending on the size of your group, you can split yourselves into teams. To raise the stakes and add some playful competition to the tournament, make the losing team do the dishes after dinner!

5. Have a Music or Karaoke Night

Music is always a fun way to pass the hours with a group of friends or family members. If someone in your group has a guitar or is a singer, he or she can put on a little concert. You may also want to sing along to online music videos or the radio. Even if no one is musically inclined, it’s still fun to belt out your favorite songs.

A snowy day or evening is a great time to play your favorite board games in your cabin. Some possibilities include Monopoly, Pictionary, checkers, and chess. Make sure you bring a deck of cards with you as well, so you can play games such as poker, gin rummy, go fish, and crazy eights. If you have a large group, a game of charades is another way to get everyone laughing and in a good mood.
